| | sleepy | ] | Just got back from Vegas. The good thing is that I walked away from the tables with more money than I came in with it, but spent most of that money going to see shows. Vegas is getting expensive, I remember less than 5 years ago it was the opposite. Casinos would do anything to get you in the door. Almost to the point where they would even pay for your for your plane tickets out there. Now it's getting costly just to get to Vegas and stay at the casinos. But I digress I had a great time. Will post full update tomorrow but for now.......sleep. |

[Sep. 16th, 2006|12:56 am] |
Well it has been a while since my last post. So much for that new years resolution to post more this year. Quick update on the goings on in my life. Things between me and my girl have progressed nicely, we are still doing the long distance thing but not for much longer. Don't be surprised by new years find us living under the same roof. That being said I have recently grown a desire to be a homeowner and have started working a second job working for S.C.O.R.E. Still have the old job, actually recently was promoted but don't start my new job till October. So I have been extremely busy over the last few months.
so that's the Readers Digest version of what has been up with me.
Hope everyone else is doing well. |

Happy New Year everyone.
Hope everyone had a great new years eve.
Just got back from Vegas I had a great time. Among the highlights of the trip I went to go see Avenue Q. I loved it was so much better live. The cast was great, the woman that played Kate Monster I think has a better than the original one. I also went to see George Wallace at the Flamingo. One of the best comedians I've seen live. I think the real highlight of my trip though was that I won over $200, probably would have been closer to $500 if I had cashed out earlier. so yeah I get to spend the first half thinking of how to spend the money.
Well 2006 is going to be a good year. Mainly cause last night I finally was able to say the "L" word to my girl. Nothing to do with that show on Showetime. I meant I was able to tell her that I love her. She actually sent me a message before I got on a plane telling me that. I immediately said it back. I actually have know it for like 2 weeks now but thought it would scare her off. I'm glad she said it first though. You know there was turbulence, crying babies, a guy sat next to a guy who smelt he didn't shower in a year, and my plane was delayed but couldn't care less. She really makes me happy. I haven't felt this way for someone in a long time. Really though that was to be closed off to me and I was fine with that. It really takes a lot for me to trust someone to let them in my life, I want her almost in every aspect of it.
Anyway enough of that though. I will leave you with this livejournal.
Normally I don't really make resolutions but this year I have. Not going to post it up here because I don't need it to be used against me later, but one of them is to post more on my livejournal. I know I have been neglecting it and I really want to write more and really want this to be more of an outlet for my thoughts than just a recap of what happened.
Well that's the obligatory first post of the year hope everyone is well and hope 2006 is a great year for everyone. |

I have no idea why this is....well that's not true I do. But still I need a break. |

it has been some time between posts. Work has been busy and things in general have just kept me away. On top of this I met (well technically I've know her for while) but we have been meeting each other a lot lately and so things have been progressing on that front for about a week. Will write more on that later. Also I'm happy to report that I have been making an effort to go to go to the movies more and saw 2 films the past week I saw "Waiting" and also went to see "the squid and the whale" both are excellent films.
So yeah thought I give a quick update.
Hope everyone else is doing well. |

| what the duck |
[Nov. 5th, 2005|09:18 pm] |
Lewis asked me to buy him a duck call and mail it to him. I guess there are no duck calls in London. What he wanted the duck call for remains a mystery he said something about an annoying neighbor and something I think about a dog. I don't know.
So I went to a hunting store. Never been to one before and was surprised to see how many duck calls there are out there. I asked the guy which ones are good he pointed to 2 which were both about $12 each. I noticed he had others but they were a lot more money I asked him what's the difference between the 2 he should me and the others, he said nothing. So then I ask why the price difference and he said "cause some corporate faggots mark up the price"
That is exactly what he said.

Somehow I missed that MirrorMask was playing at the Enzian and closed last night. Which is a shame because really wanted to see it and the Enzian is my favorite theater in Florida. Oh well.
In other movie related news watched disk 2 of the Z-Channel this morning. Found 3 more movies to add to the list:
Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid 3 Women Spetters
Bringing the list total to 35. Might not see daylight for a while this weekend, that's if I can find any of these films.
Less than an hour more of work. |

| Z Channel |
[Nov. 4th, 2005|12:19 am] |
I just watched "Z Channel - A Magnificent Obsession" It's a documentary about this guy Jerry Harvey who started a cable tv station back in 1974 in LA that showed movies, from the eclectic to the huge hits. The station was called the Z Channel and would show almost anything from Star Wars to films by Kurosawa, Fellini, Antonioni, and Peckinpah. That alone sounds cool enough, but apparently what people remember most is that this station also showed the uncut version of films Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America, and Oliver Stone's Salvador. And remeber this is back in the day before DVD's so it was a huge deal for film fans.
The Z channel had a huge impact in LA and unfortunately for us never made it out of the market. However it did wind up impacting people like Quentin Tarantino, Jim Jarmusch, Alexander Payne, and Robert Altman who come on the documentary and talk about the greatness of the Z channel and how it influenced them
The film mainly focuses on this as well as the creator Jerry Harvey who we find out has a troubled past. We also learn the details of the demise of Z channel which it turns out are closely tied together with Harvey's demise.
this documentary is great. The best thing about it shows clips of many of the films the station featured. Halfway into the movie I had to pause it and grab a pencil and start witting down all these great movies some which I had heard of but forgotten but many of which I had never heard of but look amazing. I
Here is the list of movies I now want to see because of this documentary:
Ride the high Country The Leopard Wifemistress Salvador Something of Value Straw Dogs Wild Bunch China 9 Liberty 37 Maliza Black Orpheus A safe Place Welcome to LA Images Machen in Uniform Overlord Fingers Andrei Rublev Heaven's Gate The Decline of Western Civilization Bad Timing Dead Pigeon on Beethoven Street The Passenger (probably won't find it as it has not be re released in a while) My Darling Clementine The Moon's Our Home This Man Must Die
Some of the Foreign Films it also shows that I want to now see: 1900 (5 hour version) Turkish Delight The Important Thing is to Love Le Magnifique (1973) L' Avventura La Norte Berlin Alexandepolous
I'm sure over the next few days I am going to begin to search and scour ever rental place, library, and store around me to try find these movies.
I really recommend anyone who is a fan of independent or alternative movies to go check out this documentary. Not only just to see all these clips of rare movies but also because it's an interesting story. Sadly it makes me wish that there was something like it around today, although many independent films are now slightly more available to the general public thanks to the internet but there still is no real outlet where you can see a lot of these movies today. |

So I went to see SAW 2 tonight all I can say is wow. Wish I could say more but this is the one time that I think even revealing even the tiniest detail would be bad. But I will say that I do like the nod they made to the first film towards the end. |

| HHN 2005 |
[Oct. 31st, 2005|01:19 am] |
I finally went to Halloween Horror Nights, almost didn't make it. I was supposed to go closer to the opening but then I had to go to New York. Last week was supposed to go with a couple of friends from out of town but the possibility of a hurricane scared them off. I really hate going to these events by myself, not because of the scare factor but just really because I know I would have more fun going with other people. Amusement parks in general I feel are always more fun in large groups. But the possibility of missing this event completely was a gloomy thought so I decided to go
Anyone who knows me, knows that one of the things I look forward to ever year is going to Halloween Horror Nights. I have been a fan of the event since I went to my first one years ago. If the universal parks have one thing over Disney (umm besides more sophisticated rides like Spider-man and MIB) it's HHN.
So here's my little review of this years Halloween Horror Nights
(some spoilers but in a few days it won't matter because it will be over)
First off let me say that the scarezones were great this year. Maybe the best scarezones in a long time, well at least the last two years I think the scarezones were kind of lacking, but this year it seems like they went all out. It also seemed like there were more of them this year then in previous ones, which is always great.
The Terra themed scarezones I think were particularly good. It's great how everything "collected" at them wound up in the Body Collectors. I have no idea why they didn't make the Terra Queen the icon of this years event, I mean she's way scarier looking then the Storyteller and most of the houses or scarezones were tied into her. Don't get me wrong the ads with the Storyteller are great but personally I think that it would have been better if they had it all centralize around the Terra Queen
The houses this year were also really strong compared to the previous year. I think the most memorial houses had to "the skool" and "demon cantina" just great themes. I think overall the two most fun houses to go through. Although the "Body Collectors" house was in my opinion probably the scariest of all the houses.
The Bill and Ted show this year was great. I almost look forward to seeing the Bill and Ted show as much as HHN itself. Again I have to say that this years was better compared to the years past.
Actually I should just admit it last years HHN was not that exciting to me. They advertised it as "twice the fear" it seemed to be only half as scary as the previous years. Their really was no central theme or icon to pull the whole thing together. Don't get me wrong their were a lot of things I liked at last years event the HHN icon house and I did like the fact that they brought, or at least partially brought, it back to the Studios.
In some way I really think the event should return to the Studios. I just think that the studios at night is a scarier atmosphere then the one in IOA. Considering that their is a lot more empty space at the studios now with Nickelodeon studios closing and a couple other attractions closing. I'm not one of those purist that believes that the only place to hold HHN is the studios I rather enjoyed the Islands of Fear theme in 2002, and thought it was great how every island got it's own theme, even though I know that Seuss and Spielberg people didn't really like it. But even if they just rotated it and held it in the Studios one year and IOA the next I think would be interesting.
Anyway back to Bill and Ted. This year show was good. It seemed a more back to basic one and they primarily went back to parodying the major pop culture icons of the previous year as opposed to bringing back characters like Dr. Evil and the Smallville Clark Kent. Some of the ones used in this year show. Desperate Housewives, Mr. and Mrs, Smith, Napoleon Dynamite, Family Guy, Star Wars Episode 3, Charlie and Chocolate Factory, the Fantastic Four, Batman Begins, Dukes of Hazard, the Burger King, and I'm sure a lot more that I am forgetting. But it was funny this year and even though I'll admit it not as good as the previous years when they held it in the Wild West stage it still is a decent show.
So all and all have to say that this year HHN was awesome. The only thing I regret is that I didn't get to go see the Storyteller event at the Hard Rock. I was panning to go but got their late and when I did the show was full. It was another great year at HHN and I already can't wait for next years. |

Just got intenet back since the hurricane.
Not much to say on the storm as was not much more than some rain and wind. No damage to the house. No hurricane debrie to clean up. In fact the only thing that seemed to happen was my car got cleaner.
So yeah was very lucky this tie around. Besides no internet till now no real downside here.
However almost immediately after the storm the crown on my tooth broke and I have to get it completely replaced. Very funny how things always work out like that. |

That's it, I give up.
Things with me Ayako have just taked a turn for the worse. We just have had a fight and we're no longer together. Technically I think you have to be a couple first to really be broken up. Whatever you want to call what we were; best friends with benefits or fuck friends; it doesn't mater cause it's over.
Won't go into all the details but basicly after my uncle died she really showed me no support. Not that I expected her to do much but I mean when I told her the news she just was like "oh that is a shame, so what else is going on". Then when I go to the funeral says I am being too distant.
Yeah it is time to end this.
Thanks for the good times but you are too insensative.

| Once again... |
[Oct. 20th, 2005|04:09 pm] |
I find myself preparing for yet another hurricane. Stocking up on water and ice. Soon I will probably start excessively filling up the gas tank on my car. You know when I moved down here people kept telling me that this place was always sunny and warm, somehow they all neglected to tell me that there is a hurricane season I have to worry about.
On the other side of things
Finally saw Corpse Bride yesterday. GREAT MOVIE. I don't know why I waited so long to see this movie, well actually I do, but the movie was great. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman really should go into the business of making more of these stop motion movies. Burton's imagination plus Elfman's music equals gold as far as I'm concerned.
Well need to get back to waiting to hear the latest updates on the storm. |

| | shocked | ] | Today I looked at these warn out boots on my foot and decided that I needed to throw them away. That's not shocking, I actually have been thinking the last month that I needed to do throw them away but I just waited until the rainy part of the Florida season ended to do so. What is the point of wearing the new shoes if they would get dirty right away also these ones were extremely comfortable.
No what I find really remarkable is that I have had these boots for four years and have worn them almost every day now for about three years. I've bought shoes since them and when I had to go dress up I would wear other shoes, but would wear these ones because I said earlier they are extremely comfortable.
It's amazing that they held up for so long and the thing about it is they really weren't all that bad up until that time I drove into that flood (it happened a while ago)
It's a shame they Nike no longer makes their ACG line any more I'd buy 2 more pairs right now. |
